ISRA’EL’S GLORIOUS FUTURE

How Isra’el will become a Holy Nation, before the Return of Yeshua/ Jesus.
Because we hope this study will be of special interest to Jewish
people and those who respect the fact that the Bible is a book
written by Jews, for Jews we have used the Hebraic forms of the
names of individuals and books of the Bible. e.g. ADONAI is ‘LORD’.

EXPLANATION

The Background Situation.
Our study of the Bible assures us that:
It has always been God’s intention to bless Isra’el.
This ‘blessing’ will occur in stages, from the physical to the geographical/political and soon -to the Spiritual. (Ezekiel 37).
This process is happening in our lifetime.
The key part yet to happen is the Spiritual revival of all Isra’el. (Individually, but simultaneously as a Nation.)
This will make Isra’el a blessing -to the whole Earth!
The Spiritual Revival will make them into a Holy Nation, before Yeshua returns.
This will be by calling in trust on Yeshua as Deliverer and Messiah, not by ‘sight’.

ADONAI’S choice and calling and dealings with Isra’el were always to make her-
~ HIS OWN HOLY PEOPLE.~

It started with Avraham.
With ADONAI’S first call to Avraham, came a first, special word. It was “leave” this is in fact a basic meaning of the word and concept of ‘Kadosh’, which is a well known term, for the separation (of mainly foods), in order to fulfil a special understanding of a part of the Torah. But the Holy One who consistently led and talked to and tested His servant Avraham, left him in no doubt that the call on his life and family, was to be in a special, holy relationship. Yes, ADONAI would “bless him and make him a blessing.” But in the first enlargement of the sacred Covenant he had cut with Avraham (described in B’resheet/Genesis chapter 16), ADONAI commences, (in chapter 17) with the solemn injunction; “I am El Shaddai. Walk before me and be holy…” and it was then ADONAI instituted the Covenant sign of b’ritmilah, (circumcision). From then on, as readers will know well the emphasis and means of discerning of what was holy became a large part of the life and worship of ADONAI’S people, the Jews. But it was the holy life-style by which ADONAI wanted them to be known and a blessing. Six times in the Tanakh they are called or referred to as,
“A Holy Nation or People to ADONAI”.

The call was confirmed repeatedly through the words of the prophets.
First in Moshe’s/Moses lengthy address to the nation, especially in D’varim/Deuteronomy chapter 7, (and 14:2 & 21, 26:19, and 28:9,) the call was that they were to be “a holy people to ADONAI your God.” But the beautiful reason should never be missed, as Moshe said in verses 7:5, “ADONAI Elohim has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the Earth to be His People, His treasured possession.” (This is a rare word used here and as above and in Sh’mot/Exodus 19:5.) Moshe goes on to link it with ADONAI’S love, which is only mentioned nine times in the whole of the Torah, yet repeatedly King Dav’id exulted in this aspect of what he knew of ADONAI, His faithful love, which never fails! So we read, “ADONAI did not set His affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of peoples. But it was because ADONAI loved you...” (Chapter 7:7-9.) And then he lists what ADONAI had already done because of that “Covenant of love.”

There is not room here to repeat all the Scriptures in the Tanakh which endorse this concept of Isra’el being called to be a Holy Nation, but it was, and still is ADONAI’S loving purpose for them. The concept of a (Holy) Sanctuary for ADONAI, is even expressed in Tehillim/ Psalms 114:2, as being ADONAI’S own people, foreshadowing the reality of this in the words of the Brit Chadeshah/New Testament. “Don’t you know that you people are God’s Temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? “ 1st Corinthians 3: 16 & 17. Just imagine that! This is ADONAI’S purpose still. 2nd Corinthians 6:16 quotes 5 verses from the Tanakh to explain this! “I will house Myself in them… and will walk among you, I will be their God and they will be My people.” ADONAI in His Holy People, not only in a Temple or City.

BECOMING A HOLY NATION.

This is the part of Isra’el’s future, which we believe will happen, not at, or after the return of Yeshua to Earth at His Second Coming, but some years before. To this writer’s mind there could be no event, which would bring glory to the God of Isra’el more than this being seen to happen in this world like it is now. Isra’el a holy Nation. Talk about ‘riches for the world’- it will be wonderful! Just see Romans 11: 12! Please think about this, as it is a real prospect and hope for Isra’el, and- we believe, very soon. ADONAI will be honoured! This, indeed is one of His great sorrows; that His Holy Name is not yet known for the loving, glorious blessings He longs to give.

In fact God even goes so far in this and other Scriptures to say that they have ‘profaned’ His Holy Name, but one day they will glorify Him! In fact He says this repeatedly. He also says that it will be glorified and be made known to the entire world through His Jewish people, as He always intended! Ezek’iel tells us in chapter 36: 18 – 23, “I will set apart My great Name to be regarded as Holy… the Nations will know… I am set apart through you… as Holy.” So we know this will happen!

The present reality is so different.
Sadly for those of us who have lived or are living in modern day Isra’el, the tragedy of all forms of ‘unholiness’ are evident. It would be too painful to itemise how this is seen. Praise Him, ADONAI is at work, through many humble, godly Believers: Jewish, Arab and ‘expatriate’ people. But as a Nation, one could not honestly say, that at this time, ‘Isra’el is a Holy People.’ Certainly there are understandable reasons for it...

THE BATTLE FOR ISRAEL IS A SPIRITUAL ONE

The Media have no idea what they are really reporting!
The evidence of the Spiritual battle is seen in the confusing, on-going, so-called ‘political’ and ‘religious’ mayhem. This is evidenced most in the continuing violence, cruelty and poverty of those under the sway of Islam. Ultimately, the forces of Satan, using every means of propaganda, terrorism, threats, false promises, and weapons of all kinds, are being directed against ‘the Holy One of Israel’, by seeking to eliminate ADONAI’S Jewish people and the Nation of Israel. The god of Islam, called ‘Allah’ by them, will take all the human sacrifices he can, even young children, but men and women too, to achieve his evil goal. The very existence of the Nation of Israel in their own Land is an affront to this enemy of ‘The Holy One of Isra’el’.

This is far from new or unusual in the history of Isra’el.
Some of us find the book of Shof’tim (Judges) a sad book to read. But if it has one message, it is how the re-occurring device of Satan was to find a way to captivate the people, by luring them away from their God, and then torturing them with oppression and cruelty. When they could stand it no longer, or at other times, (during the reign of the various kings, especially of Judah), when threatened by huge, over-powering armies, then Isra’el would call on ADONAI. Isra’el’s history has been, for 3 millennia, a long battle by Satan, who still hopes to win against their God. He knows ADONAI’S strategic role for Israel is to be a blessing to the whole world, and therefore he will do anything to win!

Of course we know Satan will not win.
Because -the victory must be to ADONAI through His restored, holy People, Isra’el! “Be still and know that I am ADONAI; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth. ADONAI El Shaddai is with us; the God of Ya’akov is our fortress.” (Tehillim/Psalm 46: 10 & 11.) This also means we can pray believingly for this, as statements in ADONAI’S Word are eternal, and will be seen to be true.

THE TIMING OF ISRAEL’S SPIRITUAL REVIVAL

Some say this will be at Yeshua’s Second Coming.
However, if all the Jewish people become a Holy Nation by seeing Yeshua literally with their eyes; (“looking ‘on’ or ‘at’ Him who they pierced,”) as some teachers understand Z’kharyah’s/Zechariah’s prophecy in 12:10, then where is precious trust?
Surely the correct translation and meaning is that they will “look TO Him” in faith!
Does the verse in the letter to Messianic Believers/Hebrews chapter 11; 6“without trusting it is impossible to please God” not apply to modern day Jewish people? Were Hebrew saints of the Tanakh the only ones whose faith counted for righteousness? And what of all the Believers in Jesus as Saviour by repentant faith in the last 2000 years? Should ‘end time’ Jews be treated differently? This is a very important issue.

When will ‘all Israel be saved’? [See Romans 11:26.]
When we talk about Isra’el being ‘saved’ we have the spiritual aspect mainly in our minds. Like the very Jewish Rabbi Sha'ul/Paul in his letter to the Romans, we see that the tragedy for Isra’el was their rejection of their Messiah. Yet as he considers all the implications of this, including their exclusion from God’s true Family, he outlines clearly, “whoever calls on the Name of Adonai will be delivered/saved.” The whole of this letter and indeed the whole Bible re-enforces this knowledge. It is very beautifully outlined in Yesha’yahu/ Isaiah chapter 53. Sadly many Jews have never read it. We wonder if you have?
But a big question comes in here. Do the Jewish people call on ADONAI’S Messiah, Yeshua when they see Him at His Coming to Earth, perhaps after all the Christians have gone to Heaven in what is called ‘the Rapture’? What is wrong with that idea?

REASONS FOR ADDRESSING THIS QUESTION

When the world goes through a time called ‘the Tribulation’ where will the Jews be?
Here is where it is difficult to avoid deep and controversial theological arguments. So this writer has to state clearly, that she believes, there can be no real truth in a theory which claims that the Christian (mainly) Gentile Church will be ‘raptured’ out of the world at a ‘first part’ Coming of Messiah. This doctrine is called ‘the pre-tribulation theory’. It has many, even Jewish teachers, who believe it. Other books can enlarge on many aspects of it.
However it is taught (by those who hold to this theory), that, when the Christians have been ‘raptured’ (raised/resurrected) into Heaven,
that will be the time (they say) -
when the Jewish Nation will all be delivered spiritually, and
left behind to go through a further time of tribulation, but-
then go throughout the world evangelising, without the full Presence of the Ruach Ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit.

This will be for three and a half years, (or even 7 years as some say),
This will be until the second part of the Second Coming of Yeshua to Earth to set up His Kingdom.
This is when they will be given resurrection bodies and be united with the returning church, and saints from the Tanakh.
This ‘rapture’ is said to be at any time, and not related to other ‘signs’ of the return of Yeshua, but before a time of horrific suffering, which will come on the whole world. This is why it is called Pre-Tribulation, or ‘Time of Distress’.

This doctrine, like many heresies, arose later in Church History along with other heresies, (like the false ‘replacement theology’), but resurfaced about 200 years ago. It is widely taught but there are good web-sites that explain its weaknesses.

Brief reasons for rejecting this theory.
There will only be one resurrection Day for all Believers, of all time. This is “The Day”, Yeshua referred to three times in His talk with Marta reported by John/ Yochanan in chapter 11 of his book. (Note, there is more than a hint of the pride Gentile Believers were warned of in Romans 10, in the theory of separate resurrection days for Christians and Jews.) it is called ‘the first resurrection’.
It seems to me that Gentile Christians will go through the Tribulation.

But, Scripture and God-given reason shows the Jewish Nation can expect an end to the time of suffering. Many Scriptures, like Yechezk’el/Ezekiel, Yermeyahu/ Jeremiah indicate this is so. If these promises made by a great God of Truth are not true for Isra’el, there is no hope for any Bible reading Believer.

There is nothing in Scripture to uphold the concept of escape from suffering, but rather, a place of victory in it, and often a refuge through it. Noach’s family in the Ark, The Children of Israel in the last 7 plagues of Egypt, Dani’el’s three friends in the fiery furnace, and other recorded events. “The time to favour Isra’el” and fulfil Tehillim/ Psalms 91 and 102 is very near! Please read them.
ADONAI has only ONE special people in His heart, and while the Jewish nation and the true Church have had different roles; in His over-all Plan it is only until He makes them one Bride/ Body/ Royal family at His Second Coming.
So He will not separate them before this by a ‘pre-tribulation rapture’.

ADONAI IS ALSO PREPARING A SPECIAL PLACE FOR ISRAEL!

There will be a place of safety and a time of blessing for Israel on Earth, before Yeshua’s Return. See Yesha’yahu/ Isaiah 8:14 & 25:4! “You have been a Refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm, and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall.”
.I believe firmly that Eretz Israel will be the place of refuge for all Jews. Yesha’yahu has advice in chapter 26:20, “Go, My people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until His wrath has passed by.”

This could have two meanings.
a) It is interesting that there never has been a time till now when Jewish people in Israel must all have a ‘sealed room’ which is meant to provide a refuge in a time of attack by chemical weapons. This is a known threat posed by nations in the M.E.
b) One is well aware of the historical place of refuge provided for the Messianic Jews who fled from Yerushalayim under the cruel siege of the Romans in C.E. 66. However when one considers carefully several factors regarding the present and future time for Jewish people, it could be argued, that all of ‘the Promised Land’ is the future Place of safety for Isra’el! We are talking about the actual ‘Eretz/ Land of Isra’el’! But before then it seems that ADONAI is ‘shutting’ Isra’el up into a small part of the Land that ADONAI promised to them. But they will get it all, soon.
(This fits so well with many Scriptures like verses in Tehillim/Psalm 37 that refer to this eight times! Compare with Yesha’yahu/Isaiah 52: 1- 11, yet to be fulfilled.)

Another evidence of Israel being restored before the Return of Yeshua is the physical increase in families. Along with all the blessings outlined by the prophets are many references to the increase in population. As we point out in other places, once all believers have received their resurrection bodies at the Return of Jesus, there will be no ‘pro-creation’. (See Jesus explanation in Matthew 22:29 & 30.) We would take this as a further evidence of blessings on Earth. Consider Ezekiel 36: 10, “I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel,” and in verse 37, “I will make their people as numerous as sheep…” God’s glory will be seen in this.

‘THE WOMAN’ IN ‘THE DESERT’

Now we will look at Revelation chapter 12.
This study considers ‘the woman’ there to be the ‘godly line’ from Seth onwards, but mainly ‘the Isra’el of God’, God’s faithful followers since the very beginning. (Galatians 6: 6.) It is quite right, (as many teachers say), that because ‘the Woman’ gives birth to the ‘Man Child’, Who clearly is Yeshua, she must be Isra’el. While this is true, careful thought, (even from looking at the genealogy of Yeshua), helps us to conclude that it includes many righteous Gentiles. We believe it is ADONAI’S Bride, who is very different from the horrible ‘woman’ described in Revelation 17!

The ‘Woman’ is given safe refuge!
So please carefully consider these concepts, (after reading Revelation 12.)

‘She’ is clearly Isra’el, the glorious Woman of God’s choosing. (Many Scriptures in the Tanakh agree with this.)
‘She’ is fleeing from the angry threats of the Evil One. “She fled into the desert.”
‘She’ is sent to a place where she “can be taken care of for 1260 days,” (verse 6), “and where she is taken care of for a season and two seasons and half a season,” (verse 14). [That is three and a half years.]

The time factors match exactly with those given for the time of the False-messiah’s rule and also of the two prophetic Witnesses to the truth and against the evil kingdoms of the time of Tribulation. (Revelation chapter 11.)

The refuge is twice called, ‘the desert’. During centuries of neglect, Eretz Israel was virtually a desert and large parts of it, still are, though planting and irrigation are gradually retrieving it. Older maps portray this area as ‘desert’. Hoshea 2:16/14 gives a lovely picture. “I am now going to allure her; [says ADONAI], “I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her… I will make the Valley of Achor, [trouble], a door of Hope… as in the day she came up out of Egypt.”
If it is true as we believe, that these Scriptures of Revelation 12 speak of a place of refuge for all the returning Jews from around the world- maybe some 14 million, ‘a place’ would need to be large enough for them. Petra or Paella in present day Jordan would not be. But God is “preparing a Place” right now! It is Isra’el!

However there is even a Scripture about Isra’el being given “a double portion in their land, this could well include a huge slice of land beyond even the dimensions given in Joshua 1, for an example. Yesha’yahu/Isaiah 61:7 says, “because of their shame, which was doubled, and because [others] cried ‘they deserve disgrace’ therefore in their Land what they own will be doubled, and joy forever will be theirs.” That is a most wonderful promise. (Also, as many people who never really loved Israel or her God will have left the Land, there will be ample room for all the Jewish people. But we are going ahead of describing the way all this will happen.)

These points are a step to recognising Isra’el’s restoration and blessing being before the return of Yeshua to Earth. But there are more points to be raised in this study.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO BRING ALL ISRA’EL INTO A REAL
REALATIONSHIP of HOLINESS WITH ADONAI?

The amazing prophet, Yechezk’el/Ezekiel, has some clear answers.
A study of this prophet’s book shows many precious truths.
One is, that contrary to a wrong concept of that time, (some 500 years B.C.E.) ADONAI was not limited in His acts, or ability to give prophetic words outside the Land of Isra’el. In fact, Babylon, where Yechezk’el/ Ezekiel was one of many exiles, throughout Scripture represents the very seat of Satan! No wonder one of the most used names for God, by Yechezk’el, is “The Sovereign ADONAI”
Giving Yechezk’el such precise, though tragic messages was a real evidence of ADONAI’S great power, and love for His people. Many times though, those prophetic messages cost Yechezk’el much personal discomfort and ridicule, even from fellow Jewish exiles. So when, after all the ‘negative’ messages, (as they would be called today), and even the death of his beloved wife, for whom he was not allowed to mourn, one could envisage Yechezk’el becoming rather disheartened. (See Yechezk’el /Ezekiel), chapters 1 –35.) He was a true prophet!

Now, however ADONAI gives him, (like watching videos), -
FOUR SEPARATE VISIONS, OF A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR ISRAEL.
These are from chapter 36 through to 39.

Before we look at them let’s check our guidelines.
Who are these prophecies specifically for? Clearly Isra’el.
Have they ever been truly fulfilled in the past? No.
Do they fit in any way the times we are living in? Yes.
Can we expect to see their fulfilment before too long? Yes.
Do they harmonise with other Scriptures? Definitely, yes.
Keep these in your mind as we continue the study.

THE FIRST GOOD ‘VIDEO’. Yechezk’el/Ezekiel chapter 36.
This is a composite of scenes for what was the future- to the prophet, regarding the restoration of the Land. The hills, valleys, mountains, pastures show wonderful fertility and beauty. The people would be regathered, and become very numerous. Note phrases like, “They will soon come home,” and verse 10: “I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel.” With this would go amazing prosperity, (vs. 11), and freedom from domination by other nations! (Verses 5, 12 and 15). “ ‘No longer will I make you hear the taunts of the Nations, and no longer will you suffer the scorn of the peoples or cause your nation to fall,’ declares the Sovereign ADONAI.” This is why we know the restoration is still partly future, though clearly some is already being fulfilled. Later in the chapter ADONAI outlines His reasons for this restoration, but we will come back to that very exciting aspect. You see, ADONAI has holy plans for Isra’el, as often quoted from Yir’miyahu/Jeremiah 29:11&12 about Isra’el specifically, “ ‘For I know the Plans I have for you’, declares ADONAI, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, Plans to give you hope and a future.’ “ (Many Christians claim this promise which, because God is Eternal and His whole Word is true, they can, but this verse is especially for Isra’el.)

Yechezk’el’s /Ezekiel’s possible reaction!
At the end of the vision, one could easily imagine Yechezk’el saying two things, “Now, that vision I really liked! But excuse me, but just how will You do it- these people are like dead bones, they do not want to hear You, or me. Please will You show me?”

THE SECOND AND THIRD SIGNIFICANT VISIONS

1. The Valley of Dry Bones.
The first of these in chapter 37:1-14 is well known. Maybe you should read it again?
‘The ‘video’ of the ‘valley of dry bones’ refers to both the literal, physical restoration of the Jewish people and to Nationhood. This of course, can be traced back to the sad events of the Nazi Holocaust, when many Jewish people felt they had been reduced to dry bones with no life or hope. Yechezk’el is left in no doubt who ‘they’ were. ADONAI says, (in verse 11), “…these bones are the whole house of Isra’el.” Ezekiel had learned that the God he was in touch with was indeed the Sovereign ADONAI- Isra’el’s special One, who was truly ‘Always and Almighty’. But He uses puny people, so He instructed Yechezk’el to ‘Prophecy, prophecy, prophecy!’ Which he did with great effect! But the Tanakh makes two things very clear:
It was by the power of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, (Holy Spirit).
It resulted in them knowing their God in a new way.

2. ONE Nation under God, no longer two.
The second part of the chapter, and the third vision, (15-22) had more meaning than perhaps we realise. [You will need to see our article, ‘No lost tribes.’]
One nation, united in their Land, was what was not only depicted, but clearly confirmed by ADONAI’S words; “I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Isra’el...they will never again be two nations or divided into two kingdoms.” This is certainly true in modern Israel. Inspite of many divisions, factions and various cultural backgrounds all call themselves Israelis, and rightly so.
[We in no way subscribe to the idea that the ‘white’ European nations are descended from the 10 ‘lost tribes’. Today’s Jews are ethnically Jewish by descent, and represent the whole of Isra’el. See our article on this topic, please.]
Again the reasons for becoming one are very specifically given and will require your careful reading. We will comment later.
But we can imagine Yechezk’el puzzling over these messages, and still asking, “but how exactly will you change their hearts?”

THE FOURTH GRAPHIC VISION IS OF ISRAEL’S SPIRITUAL RESTORATION

Chapters 38 and 39 need to be viewed as one event, carefully depicted 2500 years ago, yet so understandable to us today and, amazingly - they have never actually happened as described here!
Only the Sovereign ADONAI could have given such a vision to his faithful servant, Yechezk’el. Make your own notes directly from the Tanakh, yourself, as you read it carefully. It is a clear description that can be taken literally, to mean what it says.

The time is given.
Verse 8. “...after many days...in future years...” (In ‘End Times’.)
Verse 11. “...a Land that is recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had long been desolate.” (Desert-like a wilderness especially before modern Jews returned, reclaiming what was barren.)

The circumstances for Israel are given. (This is a time of false peace, perhaps soon.)
Verse 8. “Now all of them live in safety.”
Verse 11. “...a Land of unwalled villages...a peaceful and unsuspecting people.”
Verse 14. “...when My people Israel are living in safety.”

The One who is over and behind it all is the Sovereign ADONAI.
Twenty one times in this chapter alone it says, “I will, I will, I will.” But here we can pause again and see what the repeated reason is, both in these chapters and throughout the whole book. “Then they will know that I AM ADONAI!” This above all else is the great hope of all Believers, and the great longing for all Jewish People, to really know ADONAI, personally and completely! Be encouraged, if you are praying earnestly for this for Jewish loved ones you know. It must happen !

But more details are given, giving details of how they will come to know God!
At the risk of repeating the main points, we restate, that this set of events, is not for Israel’s destruction, but the very opposite! Certainly the threat will be enormous, but the deliverance from the terrible threat of annihilation will be very real!

Here is a summary.
The threatening army is named, and not from the whole world. (The ‘battle of Ha Megiddo’ is later and is very different.) Commentaries give names of nations involved. This is a Middle East ‘war’, but will seriously effect the entire world.
Their sole reason as given, is “to plunder,” (Vs 12,) not to destroy everything. It is clear that by this time Isra’el will be very prosperous, inspite of difficulties, and therefore the envy of poverty-stricken nations, who are already in trouble.
This is an important factor, pointing to this event being in this century, because until now wars were expensively destructive. Also the whole world will see it.

In our time, there is the potential to wage a war that eliminates people but does not destroy the country and its infrastructure. This is now possible as never before. The greatest fear people have of a Middle East war, is the known stockpile of chemical weapons and the missiles to deliver them. There is no real protection from them. They are known to be so lethal a small amount can kill.
One characteristic of the threatening army is partly its size, being described as “a great horde.” With an awareness of the current situation, one could well imagine this to be a Russian communistic led, Nazi assisted, and Muslim inspired anti-Israel, anti-god confederation. This fits with the name ‘Magog’, since this means, ‘anti-god’. However there could be secret Believers among the army, forced to be part of it. Pray for them! (Tiny Isra’el will obey Yesha’yahu 26: 20 though!)
But Islam hates the God of Isra’el and has vowed to do away totally with this tiny nation as an indication to the world of ‘how great Allah is’. The fact that this land, once under Islam, is now called ‘Isra’el’ and is a home to Jews, is a slur on Islam. This is why they are ready to die for their cause, which now will be broken.

The site of their gathering is described four times as “…the Mountains of Israel…and all my mountains,” Yet it is clear that this battle will result in deliverance for Isra’el –so small geographically at present. Perhaps the key lies in looking (as it were) in ADONAI’S ‘geography book’, where we know the actual Land of Isra’el extends right up to the Euphrates River. This suggests that the mountains could be in present Lebanon, or Syria. (Not Yesha, ‘the West Bank’ Samaria area.) Syria and Lebanon are very mountainous with valleys on the coast.
Knowing what is happening is a key part of this event, and again an indication that it will be in this century of advanced Internet and telecommunications. But the people who are in Isra’el, who have no love for it, and who should not be there anyway, will take opportunity to leave in large numbers. This is described in a number of other Scriptures, including Tehillim/Psalms 125 & 58. This could include many Muslim Arabs, and cult groups, who deny the Deity of Yeshua/Jesus Messiah.

THE EFFECT THIS WILL HAVE ON ISRAEL AND ALL JEWS

Jews in Isra’el, and Jews and believing Christians around the world, will be very deeply concerned to the point of absolute panic for what is happening. Many will not understand especially when there is no offer of help from anywhere on Earth. This will be the time when the description given by Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah in 30: 1- 11 will be absolutely true. You need to read it all, but here is some from verse 6, “Why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labour, every face turned deathly pale? How awful that day will be! None will be like it. It will be a time of trouble for Ya’akov/Jacob, BUT HE WILL BE SAVED OUT OF IT.” It will be a “dark night of trouble.” (See Genesis 32: 21, & 22.)

This is will not last for 3.5 years. Although this is common teaching, we need to go back to the very significant story of how ‘ISRA’EL’ became the new Name of God’s special people. It is in B’resheet/ Genesis 32. Ya’akov was returning to his roots. Having made careful arrangements for his family, “he was left alone”. Frankly, he was terrified of his ‘alien’ brother! But now came a life-changing encounter – truly ‘a time of trouble’ and real fear for him! But it was not Es’au he met. Four times in the following verses, the description is ”of a Man” wrestling with and disabling him. In return for Ya’akov’s demand, “I will not let You go unless You bless me,” the Man asked Ya’acov what his name was. The Man then says, “from now on you will no longer be called Ya’akov, but ISRA’EL because you have shown your strength to both God and men and have prevailed… and He blessed him there.” [Read to vs. 31]

The significance of these two experiences.
Ya’akov was convinced of the sacredness of that place and experience, because of the Person he had met. So he called it, “P’ni-El, because I have seen God Face to face, yet my life is spared.” Out of fear, release and blessing!
Surely this will be the experience of all Jews at the time of this horrendous threat of annihilation - but the result will be wonderful!

Yes,“they will be delivered out of it.” But first they will wrestle with ‘A Man’ –Yeshua.
This is when by faith; Israel will call on the Name of ADONAI! At last the great longing in ADONAI’S heart will be satisfied! Sha’ul wrote, “Everyone who calls on the Name of ADONAI will be delivered.” (Romans 10:13.) And this is a direct quote from the Tanakh, by the prophet Yo’el who adds: “for on Mount Ts’ion and in Yerushalayim there will be deliverance.” 2:32.

HOW THE DELIVERENCE WILL HAPPEN AND THE RESULTS

The way the army is destroyed is by an act of ADONAI.
The concept is that as Yesha’yahu 26:20 says, ADONAI is shutting Israel up into a small space, (as we have illustrated earlier), so He can protect them. But the enemy army will be totally destroyed by a violent earthquake. The details are given in verses 18-22 of chapter 38, and the fact that it an uneasy alliance of different nations is suggested in the phrase, “...every mans sword will be against his brother.” There will be death in many different ways, clearly described and total.

The after effects and possible consequences for the rest of the world, as well as some other factors will be enlarged on in the article about ‘The False-messiah’. For Israel, (and indeed all Jewish people everywhere, and not a few Christians) the consequences are not only amazing, and important, but most of all a great victory to the Holy One of Israel! “Then they will know that I AM the LORD.”

The fanatical powers of Islam, Communism and Fascism will be broken forever! This will allow and encourage many in those nations to turn to the Lord Jesus/ Isa Mesih Rab/ Messiah about whom many have known, but for fear could not worship. Yesha’yahu/Isaiah says in 19: 23, “The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, ‘Blessed be Egypt My People, Assyria My handiwork, and Isra’el My inheritance.”
Some other Muslims will continue with a very ‘watered down’ religion accepting the humanistic, ‘new age’ philosophy which will now dominate the world, as a ‘one world, New Age religion’, under the False-messiah/Anti-christ and the False Prophet.

THE RESULT FOR ISRA’EL WILL BE THE BEST, EVER!

This is when all the Scriptures, about Israel’s Spiritual renewal will come true! Now you can go back and read those wonderful parts of Yechezk’el’s visions, we missed out! Of course every sentence needs an exclamation mark. There is so much one could say about it, and so many Scriptures could be quoted, especially, “Then they will know…”
Israel delivered! ADONAI glorified! Yeshua accepted!

Now you know how Israel will become a holy nation!
The other aspects of what we can do about this now, is clear. We know what to pray believingly for! Some of us can see how this fits so well with Sha’ul’s great discussion in Romans 9 – 11. Before we leave Yechezk’el let us read the final verses of chapter 39. The God who has and will reveal Himself in His three Persons is there. The ‘time of Jacob’s trouble’ will be their P’ni-El time! They will ‘see’ by faith Who ADONAI is! “I will show Myself Holy- through them, in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I AM ADONAI their God, for though I sent them into exile among the Nations, I will gather them to their own Land, not leaving any behind. I will no longer hide My FACE from them, for I will pour out My SPIRIT on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign ADONAI.” (Verses 27-29.) They will ‘see’ who Yeshua is because as He said Himself, “Whoever has seen ME has seen the FATHER.

More than that they will accept the three-fold nature of their ELOHIM.
Can you see it in the verse above?

In chapter 36:25, ADONAI promised: “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit in you…”

Let us go to the Brit Chadashah for Sha’ul’s description of this time. First, Romans chapter 11: 12, speaking about Israel; “It is by means of their stumbling, that deliverance has come to the Gentiles, in order to provoke them to jealousy. Moreover IF their stumbling is bringing riches to the world-…How much greater riches will Israel in its fullness bring them!”

(Romans 11:25- 31) “For, brothers, I want you to understand this truth which God formerly concealed, but has now revealed…It is that stoniness, to a degree, has come apon Israel, until the Gentile world enters into its fullness; and that it is in this way that all Israel will be saved. As the Tanakh says, ‘Out of Tziyon will come the Redeemer; He will turn away ungodliness from Ya’akov, and this will be My Covenant with them…when I take away their sins.’

Yir’miyahu 32:38-41. “They will be My people and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so they will always fear Me for their own good, and the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear Me, so they will never turn away from Me. I will rejoice in doing them good, and will assuredly plant them in this Land with all My heart and soul.”

There is no ‘good’ better than knowing ADONAI in all the fullness of His revelations through His Son, Yeshua, through His written Word, and His Presence through the Ruach Ha Kodesh!
